Yes, GIA certifies lab grown diamonds. The Gemological Institute of America grades lab grown stones and clearly marks each report "laboratory-grown." Its reports changed on 1 October 2025: older reports give full grades for cut, color, clarity and carat, while newer ones rate the diamond Premium or Standard instead of giving separate color and clarity grades. Either way, the grading is independent, so you know what you are buying.

GIA or IGI — which is better for a lab grown diamond?

Both are independent, respected labs, so neither is a wrong choice. IGI grades the majority of lab grown diamonds and is the everyday standard for them; GIA is the best-known name in diamond grading. IGI still gives lab grown diamonds full color and clarity grades. We offer both and let you filter by either, so you can pick the report you trust.

Can you trust a GIA certified lab grown diamond?

Yes. GIA is an independent, non-profit lab with no stake in the sale, and its report describes the exact stone in front of you and states plainly that it was grown in a lab. Check that the report number matches the one laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle.
